An Elementary and Unified Proof of Grothendieck’s Inequality

We present an elementary, self-contained proof of Grothendieck’s inequality that unifies both the real and complex cases and yields both the Krivine and Haagerup bounds, the current best-known explicit bounds for the real and complex Grothendieck constants respectively (although it has recently been shown that Krivine’s bound is not sharp).

Extending Arcs: An Elementary Proof

In a finite projective plane π we consider two configuration conditions involving arcs in π and show via combinatorial means that they are equivalent. When the conditions hold we are able to obtain embeddability results for arcs, all proofs being elementary. In particular, when π = PG(2, q) with q even we provide short proofs of some well known embeddability results.

An elementary proof of the reconstruction conjecture

The reconstruction conjecture states that the multiset of vertex-deleted subgraphs of a graph determines the graph, provided it has at least 3 vertices. This problem was independently introduced by Stanis law Ulam (1960) and Paul Kelly (1957). In this paper, we prove the conjecture by elementary methods. It is only necessary to integrate the Lenkle potential of the Broglington manifold over the...

An elementary proof of Blackwell’s theorem

This paper presents a short and elementary proof of Blackwell’s theorem. This theorem states the statistical conditions under which one information structure (or experiment) is more informative than another information structure. By more informative we mean that one information structure does not have less economic value to any decision-maker than another information structure, regardless of th...

An Elementary Proof of Ap Ery's Theorem

We present a new ‘elementary’ proof of the irrationality of ζ(3) based on some recent ‘hypergeometric’ ideas of Yu. Nesterenko, T. Rivoal, and K. Ball, and on Zeilberger’s algorithm of creative telescoping. A question of an arithmetic nature of the values of Riemann’s zeta function
